sugar(ed) weddings: {oceanfront elegance}

I try not to play favorites, but Mari and Neil’s wedding will always have a special place in my heart.  The day was memorable for lots of reasons (including my office being filled to the brim with boxes of wine and champagne for a week before the wedding), but the most important for me was that I tackled all the floral design and decor for the first time.  With a kitchen full of flower boxes two days before the wedding I kind of wondered what I had gotten myself into (omg, you guys!) but in the end it all came together beautifully (if I do say so myself!)  The palette was soft white and ivory, with lots of sparkly mercury glass and flickering candlelight.  We added a few details to hint at the beach setting, including a message in a bottle “guest book”; friends and family wrote little notes and well wishes and tucked them into tiny glass bottles with cork tops.  A few may have ended up in the ocean!  Bistro lighting cast a beautiful soft glow over the dining tables and steel drum music made everything feel extra festive.  It was such a beautiful evening, filled with close friends and family, love, laughter and raw emotion.  Oh, and we planned it in less than three months!

Mari and Neil, I want to thank you for trusting me with this very special day and believing in my vision.  You are a fabulous couple and I’m glad that this beautiful day could mark the beginning of your beautiful life together.

  1. This is beautiful! What’s the venue?

    • It’s a private home in Delray Beach! Gorgeous, right?

      • So lovely! I love the idea of a home where guests can be in and outside and wander freely. I’d also love to have a nice size yard…and the oceanfront bonus is just gorgeous. I really love the wedding you did at Villa Woodbine recently. But I’m concerned it’s missing the large yard and oceanfront view.
